The “intellectually, emotionally, and musically rich” (Star Tribune) men’s vocal ensemble Cantus is widely known for its trademark warmth and blend, innovative programming, and its engaging performances of music ranging from the Renaissance to the 21st century. Following their appearance at Longwood Gardens last season, Cantus comes to Center City to explore the sumptuous ‘Cathedral sound’ as part of Concerts at the Cathedral Basilica.

Cantus performs their program Discovery of Sight. Light is an integral part of life, from governing our daily habits and cycles, to providing nourishment, warmth, and protection. But what happens when the light is taken away, or restored? We all have experienced our own personal ‘sunrises’ or ‘twilight hours.’ There are even moments in our lives when we recognize the impact of vision in new ways.

Including music by Schubert, Strauss, Eric Whitacre, and many others, this program revels in the mystery, science, and poetry of what it means to truly ‘see.’
